East London, Newham
7 hours per week. Mix of home and office-based.
£32,000 per annum, pro rata

As London Compost's first Finance Officer, your main aim will be to keep track of the financial transactions of Compost London, maintaining accurate records and liaising regularly with key staff and directors. No one day will be the same. One moment you will be working closely with the finance volunteer and the organisation’s accountancy firm and on another day you may be working and supporting project leads in matters of finance. Yoi will also get a chance to work with organisations and their projects, for whom we are holding money for and assist them with matters concerning their finances.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain accurate financial records using the company’s accounting software
  • Keep the accounting filing system in order and produce reports for the various projects and cost codes
  • Help project leads with budget making and management
  • Oversee cash flow, calculating budget variances and reporting any significant issues to the project lead, CEO or director overseeing finance
  • Manage the annual budget and petty cash fund
  • Pay suppliers and customers on time.
  • Balance the financial books by reconciling them with bank statements in conjunction with the finance volunteer
  • Generate financial reports with analysis for project leads and directors
  • Help prepare the payroll
