Finance Officer. Compost London 1 day a week

April 16, 2026

Compost London CIC is looking for a part-time Finance Officer (1 day per week). This is a practical, hands-on role and is ideal for someone returning to work or already working part-time or freelance. Ideally we would like someone who can take ownership of day-to-day finances and keep things in good order.

We’re looking for a Finance Officer to work with us one day per week at Compost London CIC.

This is a practical role focused on keeping our finances in good order across the organisation and supporting the projects and groups we work with.

As many of you know, Compost London supports voluntary, community and faith organisations to grow and thrive. Part of that work includes holding and managing funds on behalf of smaller or emerging groups, so this role requires experience of working with small community groups.

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Manage day-to-day financial records and transactions
  • Support project leads with budgets and tracking spend
  • Support community organisations with basic finance advice
  • Monitor cashflow and flag any issues early
  • Produce straightforward financial reports
  • Manage invoices, payments and credit control
  • Work with our accountant on year-end processes
  • Produce Board reports

This role would suit someone experienced in bookkeeping or small organisation finance who prefers steady, reliable work and can operate independently.

Key details:

  • 1 day per week (7 hours, flexible)
  • £32,000 FTE pro rata
  • 12 months Fixed term to June 2027
  • Hybrid working

To apply:
Please send a CV and short supporting statement addressing the following question -"Briefly describe how you would manage finances across multiple small projects, including holding funds on behalf of other organisations" and send to info@compostlondon.org.uk.

Deadline: 24 April 2026
